We have managed to secure another date to bag-pack. This year it will take place at the Toryglen ASDA Superstore on Sunday 23rd May 2010 from 11am until 4pm This is the first bag-packing opportunity we have had for over a year, and we would ask as many people as possible to participate (both parents and swimmers).
Bag-packing is an excellent fund-raising opportunity. We have only been given a 5-hour slot on this occasion, therefore the more people who volunteer to help on the day (even for one hour), the more profitable the day will be for raising funds for the club. The bag packing helps fund, or at least helps keep the costs down, for everything we do such as fun nights, shared equipment, coach training, timekeeper training, team buses, pens, stamps etc.
Asda guidelines dictate that children must be 12 years of age and over. We therefore need parents to help on the day as well as swimmers – this also shows support for the swimmers, and recognises the time and effort that the coaches and committee members put in on the swimmers’ behalf.
Swimmers must wear their club tee-shirt. No food or drink can be consumed at the tills. Asda now requires that each club or organisation donate a £20.00 levy from the money they raise to cover the costs of plastic bags.
Unfortunately as the bag-packing date we have been offered is the same day as the last leg of the mini league competition, we realise that there will be some parents who will be unable to volunteer to help. It’s really important therefore that as many parents and older swimmers as possible try and put their names on the rota to come along and assist. Sinéad will be approaching parents in the near future to get names on a rota to cover the 5 hour period.
