Here you can see what up and coming events Kingston is involved in, as well as news of any recent events or changes to the Training schedule.
Please check back in from time to time and see what the club’s getting up to!
The psych and entry sheets for both the RB mini and junior development meets coming up on 26 and 27 January are now available.
There will be running a sign in desk which will close 15 minutes into each sessions warm up. This will be set up just outside the changing area – please ensure swimmers know to sign in.
Please note that there may be the possibility of starting the afternoon sessions earlier so if possible, please encourage afternoon session swimmers to be at the pool for 12.30pm
It came to the attention of the Club that we have had two different editorial copies of the constitution within the club . The matters were discussed and the document edited to reflect the correct text which is the following;
“BL3.1 The financial year shall run from 1st January to 31st December each year.”
and policies list under R3.0 :
” a) Child Protection Policy b) Recruitment & Selection Policy for Voluntary Members c) Policy for Use of Photographic & Video Equipment d) Equal opportunities Policy “
The document has also been further corrected only to format the headers style to fix the issue with the content page showing missing page number ( see website pdf copy showing ” .. ERROR! BOOKMARK NOT DEFINED” ). As a results the contents list is now showing only the main sections as intended.
Please also note below;
Additions to Regulations in Constitution:
R17.4 iv) Each member shall pay the stated monthly fees for training sessions that they are assigned to by the Head Coach. Such payments, as per the set monthly fee in force, must be made by Standing order to Clubs designated bank account
R17.4 v) The management committee shall review the monthly fees, if required, at a General Meeting, and amend the fees as required to ensure Clubs financial stability.
R17.4 vi) Each member shall give a period of one calendar month’s notice of their intention to leave the Club. Session fees for that month will be paid at the required rate for the swimmer’s usual sessions.
As you know we have implemented a number of new regulations this year and we will vote them to be introduced and adopted in the constitution in the AGM 2019.
There will be a splash email out to announce these before the AGM.
We have been approached by SASA asking for the adoption of their current model Constitution, especially mandatory clauses; we seem to be up-to-date already anyway, however should we note any further changes are required we will let you know.
Following on the AGM, we will produce Issue 7 to reflect the successful changes . Until then I kindly ask all other copies labeled as Issue 6 , dated 5th February 2017 to be deleted and replaced with the attached for future use.
The Club AGM will be held at 7pm on January 28th 2019 in the dance studio at Castlemilk Swimming Pool. We will review the year and outline plans for the coming year. One important element of the evening will be a presentation by our head coach about plans for the club and our swimmers in 2019.
We would encourage as many of our parents to attend as possible. In addition, a number of our current committee members will retire from their roles having given many years of fantastic service to Kingston. This means that there are several key roles which now need filled on the committee and I would strongly encourage you to consider volunteering for a role to allow the club to function. The roles that need to be filled at the AGM are:
Ordinary Members are also welcomed, especially if you have an interest or experience in fund raising, funding applications, media and communications
The people currently in these roles are happy to support anyone coming into the role with guidance and advice during a transition period and we have the full support of our Scottish Swimming Regional Development Manager to help with any concerns. Please come and speak to any of the current committee if you’d like to discuss any of the roles or ask at the front desk.
We look forward to seeing you on 28th January 2019

Fantastic Kingston results at the JAGs championships at Tollcross last weekend. Talia Blackley won bronze for 100 back, Max and Guy Pelosi between them won 4 silver medals and a bronze, also several top ten placings for other swimmers.
Kingston came 12th overall out of 26 clubs competing, ahead of some much larger clubs. Apart from the medal winners everyone swam brilliantly, almost all swims were PBs, well done everyone.
Thanks to coaches, timekeepers and team managers especially Bob Blackley who was there for the whole weekend!
Kingston results are attached, note that some races had preliminary rounds and finals (P and F), some races just had finals (F). The full results are on the Scotswimwest website.
Well done to all 25 Kingston swimmers who attended for 200m Long Course Time Trials on Sunday at Tollcross. Lots of excellent swims, and a big thanks to parents who came to act as coaches, timekeepers and starter. Great Kingston team effort! We had enough swimmers to cover the cost of the pool hire, too.
Please note that times taken in a 50m pool (Long Course – LC) cannot be directly compared to 25m pool times (short course – SC). The computer can automatically convert from one to the other.
Results are attached in 2 formats, first the long course times with LC improvement if any, and secondly improvement calculated against previous short course times. As most swimmers did not have previous 200m times recorded in a long course pool, to look at PBs its best to look at the converted times where todays times are converted to 25m pool times and then compared to previous 25m pool times.
No PB is recorded however if a swimmer did not have a previous time for that stroke and distance.
I hope that makes sense!
